Spreading my love of reading.

This is my journey as a first-time World Book Night Giver.

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I wasn’t able to hand out the majority of my books yesterday.
BUT! I’m getting ready to head out to the beach for a couple hours and hand more out today.

Today is the day!

…and I’m off to a late start.

Considering the problems I’m having with work right now though, I’m not too upset about it, and everything will turn out fine.
If everything goes according to plan, I should be at the beach in just a few short hours!

Stuffing envelopes with the Recipient Letter. Decided today that I’m going to write my own letter to the recipients, as well.

Getting Ready!

Off to the store to get some bookmarks printed and get some materials for the little photo project as well! (I hope!)

I’m getting excited about getting everything together, but getting more and more nervous about talking to people.

Books: Acquired.

Okay, okay, okay.

I picked up the books from Barnes and Nobel today because I am impatient and incapable of waiting and I just wanted them as soon as possible.
So now I have them and I can just feel the excitement building.
And I did find my copy of the book, it was in my car (of course), so I’ll be rereading that this week.
I’m also thinking about doing kind of a photo series about the recipients. I wouldn’t ask them to give any more information than they’re comfortable with but I think it would be a good thing and it would hopefully help extend the social media outreach of WBN.
(Even though I am probably the only one that reads these posts, whatever.)

I’m just really excited today.

Look what I just picked up!

I’m getting really excited and a little bit nervous about World Book Night.

I just got the confirmation email from Barnes and Nobel saying that I can pick up my books anytime next week, which is exciting! I also want to have some bookmarks and stuff printed out to give with the books. (Side note: I still need to find a wagon to carry them all!)

I think I left my personal copy of Fahrenheit 451 in St. Augustine, because I can’t find it anywhere, and that’s the last place I took it. I haven’t looked in my car yet (if you know me you know why), so I guess it could be there. I just really want to re-read the book before I have to go talk to people about it, because it has been a while. If I don’t find it, I have a copy of A Pleasure to Burn, which is a collection of short stories and acts as a companion piece to Fahrenheit, which I might actually read even if I do find the book.

And I’m really worried about TALKING to people. I mean, I know that’s the whole point of World Book Night, but I generally have a hard time approaching people and starting conversations, so this is definitely a step out of my comfort zone. Would anyone maybe want to read or re-read the book with me and discuss it some? It would help to have some specific talking points just in case I get jumbled up. Just a thought.

Expect pictures soon, because once I really start getting stuff together, I’m going to be posting A LOT more!

I just really want to get my books so I can start putting together the little packages I’m going to hand out.

Also, does anyone know where I can get a wagon for relatively cheap, or free?

By the way!

The book I’ll be handing out is Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. (One of my favorites!)
And I’m planning on distributing the books along the beach in the Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach area. I need to get a wagon, some plastic bags, and some promo materials printed up so I can start getting ready.
